Dr. Simone B. Soso is an environmental scientist and animal ecologist dedicated to advancing inclusive excellence in STEM and strengthening the nation’s research and innovation capacity. As the Founder of STEM Futures Consulting, she leads national efforts to design and implement science programs, workforce initiatives, and research collaborations that expand access, funding, and opportunity across the academic and nonprofit sectors.
Previously, Dr. Soso served as Assistant Director of Research & Workforce Development at the MSI STEM Research & Development Consortium (MSRDC), where she guided multi-million-dollar federal contracts, research projects, and faculty development initiatives that built lasting capacity at minority-serving institutions nationwide.
Her career bridges science, policy, and education, including service as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the National Science Foundation, where she advanced strategies to strengthen the U.S. STEM workforce through equitable funding and systemic innovation.
Beyond her consulting work, Dr. Soso serves on the Board of Directors for One Health Lessons, supporting a global volunteer network delivering K–12 education on environmental, animal, and public health. She has also previously
volunteered her time working for the NAACP and other organizations as a committee member advocating for environmental justice and educational equity.
